Centrally located on the restaurant row in Grand Case, Bistrot Caraïbes offers a charming and relaxed ambiance in which to dine on French-Caribbean cuisine. For over 15 years, the well-reputed restaurant is run by the brothers Thibault and Amaury Mezière, who know their way around food. Both former chefs at Paul Bocuse's restaurant in Lyon/France and later at the French Pavilion at Epcot center in Orlando/Florida, the brothers Mezière consistently earn high marks for their excellent food, service, and ambiance. |
Service is genuinely friendly and efficient even at the height of the evening.
Thibault and Amaury are adorable hosts and will make you feel welcome as soon as you enter the Bistrot.
They always create a relaxed mood for dining, whether it's little details in the table set-up, presentation of the food, or the overall setting.
Just recently, they completely remodeled the dining room to make the restaurant even more comfortable. The interior changed into a modern, elegant, and intimate décor. New subdued lighting in the walls blends nicely into the subtle decoration of the walls, painted now in warm coral red, grey, and white and accented with natural stone. Through all the years, the main attraction of the Bistrot Caraïbes remained untouched though: the water fountain full of lobsters is still at the entrance. Choose your own and savor one of the traditionally prepared fresh lobsters for which the Bistrot is so famous!

The regular menu features the homemade smoked salmon with capers and onions as a starter. It is luscious and flavorful, but still benefits from one of the superb full-bodied white Burgundies on the wine list. For dinner, they offer an authentic French sea bass in a superb preparation featuring assorted vegetables and chive sauce. House specialties include several appetizers for garlic lovers, hot goat cheese in a pastry crust with smoked duck breast, red snapper braised in a creamy saffron sauce with mussels, and grilled rack of lamb with vegetables and garlic mashed potatoes. Special menus for children and for vegetarians are available. |

The extensive wine list covers all of France offering lovely whites to complement the fish courses and reds for heartier flavored dinners. After dinner drinks include armagnac, cognac, and the special house-made rum. It is so good, you will want to take home a bottle, and you can!
Aside from the regular menu, the daily specials depend on the catch of the day or the arrival of fresh fish, mussels, and produce flown in from France. They are carefully prepared, beautifully served, and reasonably priced. Utilizing only fresh, seasonally-inspired ingredients, chefs/proprietors Thibault and Amaury weave together an enticing array of upscale French cuisine with a hint of the Caribbean. They keep a watchful eye on the extensive wine list as well, offering many fabulous French wines to perfectly complement light or more flavorful dishes.
